Wh-questions with the simple past :
Where did you spend your holidays? → I spent my holidays in Abidjan.
What did you do during the holidays? → I went fishing / played a football tournament / helped my father / met new friends / sold things at the market.
Règle : à la question, did + base verbale ; dans la réponse, le verbe au prétérit (go→went, spend→spent, have→had, meet→met, sell→sold, buy→bought, be→was/were).
⚠️ Pièges classiques :- Avec did, le verbe reste à l'infinitif : What did you do (pas « did you did »).
- Prétérits irréguliers à retenir : went, spent, met, bought, sold, had, was/were.
- « During the holidays » + prétérit pour les activités révolues.
